Breeding

Reproductive success and herd productivity start with the health and nutrition of your cattle.

Multimin® 90 (zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium injection) supplies targeted trace minerals that are known to increase bull semen quality.1 Studies show that bulls that received trace mineral supplements had a 4% higher pass rate for their second breeding soundness exam (BSE).2

Trace minerals have also been shown to support higher pregnancy rates an increase of 17% in timed artificial insemination and an increase of up to 43% in timed embryo transfer.2 In addition, strategic supplementation with trace minerals results in a compressed calving window, with an average of 12% more calves born 20 days earlier.3

The targeted, rumen-native Megasphaera elsdenii (Mega e®) found in Lactipro® consumes lactic acid, helping bulls adapt to high-energy diets and avoid digestive upsets that impact rumen health and hoof quality. Lactipro helps bulls reach their target body condition score and optimize genetic potential for performance and growth.

Adding probiotics and injectable trace minerals can add up to healthy cows, more calves per season, and more time for calves to achieve higher weaning weight before going to market.

Pre-calving & calving

Trace minerals like those found in Multimin 90 have a major impact on calf health when transferred from cow to fetus in the third trimester. Strategic trace mineral supplementation replenishes the cow’s trace mineral status,1 supporting the vital transfer of trace minerals to the fetus,2 which aid in healthy calf development3 and have been shown to result in higher quantities of vaccine-specific antibodies in the colostrum when used in conjunction with a scours vaccine.4

The nutritional demand of a cow or heifer is highest during the last trimester of pregnancy. Trace minerals are important for sustaining the pregnancy and preparing the cow to transfer trace minerals from her liver to her fetus's liver via placental transfer.2 The trace minerals in Multimin 90 support her health during this critical time.

For producers, this means healthier cows, healthier calves, and more efficient operations.

Branding & weaning

Branding, weaning, and vaccination are some of the most stressful moments in a calf’s life — and it’s not an easy time for handlers,
either. By including injectable trace minerals like those found in Multimin 90 producers can increase the odds of keeping calves healthy and keeping their operation running smoothly.

Research shows that giving Multimin 90 along with vaccines significantly improves antibody protection against BRD pathogens.1 In one study,
80% of calves that received Multimin 90 increased antibody levels by 4x,
compared to just 53% of those that didn't.1 The trace minerals found in Multimin 90 have also been shown to strengthen overall immune response, leading to better vaccine ROI.4

Diet transitions that occur at this stage can also be a challenge. Young calves don’t have a significant amount of Mega e present in their rumen. Lactipro provides a viable population of this superior lactic acid-utilizing bacteria directly to the rumen to help calves adapt to grain-based diets faster, ensuring they have a strong start.

Adding probiotics and injectable trace minerals to your protocol at branding/weaning is a small investment that results in big returns.
