MS Biotec is the microbial technology center located in Wamego, Kansas. Through years of research and technological advancement, MS Biotec developed a unique and proprietary method to stabilize novel microbial strains for commercial production. In doing so, MS Biotec pioneered the use of the rumen-native bacteria Mega e® (Megasphaera elsdenii) to enable regulation of rumen pH and to stimulate a healthy rumen environment. The foundational understanding of microbial fermentation and stabilization allows MS Biotec to develop and commercialize additional novel microbes for a broad range of commercial applications.
Lactipro® products, containing Mega e, harness the power of a superior strain of lactic acid-utilizing bacteria and were an industry innovation when introduced to the U.S. market in 2010. LactiproNXT® and LactiproFLX®, our breakthrough products launched in 2020, are the result of patented anaerobic production processes and packaging, enabling us to freeze-dry Mega e in a live, suspended state. Axiota and its affiliates are the world’s only commercial providers of Mega e, and the company is co-owner of the patent for Megasphaera elsdenii NCIMB 41125.
